Henry Pankey is a nationally acclaimed educator, author, comedian, staff developer, and motivational speaker. He recently served as principal of Southern High School in Durham, North Carolina, the site of the 2000 "State of American Education" address delivered by U.S. Secretary of Education Richard Riley. He is currently a full time School Improvement Consultant for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
Mr. Pankey is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2000 Principal of the Year in Durham Public Schools and the 1999 Hall of Fame Ida B. Wells Risk Taker Award bestowed by the National Alliance of Black School Educators. He has attended ten different universities and holds 14 licenses in education and administration. His recent autobiography, Standing in the Shadows of Greatness, is "an unapologetic story of a life that was shaped by hundreds of role models, teachers, principals, parents, students, educators, and friends."
